What we said about the Plaque
|
|
"There is no doubt in my mind that this
plaque represents a unique achievement for a small school such as ours.
It is a good example of a project being undertaken with an
artist in residence and has involved not only staff, children, and
their parents but also others from the wider community. Thanks are due to many people but above
all to Dorothy for her persistence when the going got tough,
her inspiration, her enthusiasm with the children and undoubted
skill and excellence in her own field of sculpture. Steve Chope, Head teacher Sept 2001
Some
comments from the children: I hope that the sculpture lasts
through the years so that people in the future can see what it was like
when I was at school. I liked doing the plaque because I
like art.
It looks good on the wall and I think lots of people visiting the
village will look at it. I hope it will last forever as it will remind people of the history of Parracombe and the children who helped out. 'The sculpture we made for the school helps people to remember the old days and to think about the new. I think that it looks really amazing and I hope it will be there for a long time' |
