Lynton & Lynmouth in Bloom

Middleham Gardens

About In Bloom 2005 Winners
2005 has been a very successful year for Lynton and Lynmouth in Bloom. Not only did the village receive the Cox Cup and a Gold Award in their category in South West in Bloom but also a new award was presented to them for the conservation work being carried out on Hollerday Hill.

Hollerday Hill offers a wealth of flora and fauna, an immense amount of history and the most wonderful coastal views for the walker.  The conservation work is being carried out by Lynton and Lynmouth Town Council in partnership with the Exmoor National Park Authority, English Nature and DEFRA.  The hill is very much in need of the managed clearing of trees and gorse.  As this is achieved the natural wild flowers and heathers are returning, viewpoints are cleared and information boards are in place.

For Lynton and Lynmouth in Bloom the icing on the cake was the nomination by the South West in Bloom judges to ask Lynton and Lynmouth to become national finalists and to compete in the category of Coastal Resorts in 2006.
