The LCDT was set up in December 1998 to manage previously LA owned properties to the benefit of the community. Its long term aim is to create sufficient income so that it can grant aid community projects in the area. Its first project was to act as the financial body to enable NDDC to convert the Market Hall in Lynton to become a new library and IT centre.
A playgroup dedicated to the young children of Lynton.
Lyn Valley Playgroup was established in 1993 and is run by a management committee of staff and parents. It was converted into the current ‘Exmoor Stepping Stones’ group, run as a community interest company in 2008. The playgroup has it’s own modern purpose built premises with garden and outside play area. We provide for children aged 3-5 years. A child may be offered one session per week in the month before his/her third birthday, but must be accompanied by an adult.
Lyn in Bloom” works with the Town Council who this year have allocated a grant of £3,500 from agency and Town Council funds. This money is then used for floral displays and permanent beds. NDDC supports us with a generous grant and also “Lyn in Bloom” raises money from donations and sponsorship of baskets and displays by businesses, residents and local organisations. The committee organises an ‘Open Gardens’ day when up to 15 gardens in the parish open to the public and become the ‘Lynton and Lynmouth Garden Trail’. Raffles and bring and buy stalls are to be found at many local events and also at our presentation evening in October.
The new Lynmouth Pavilion was officially opened on 17 October 2013 after less than twelve months of construction work.
The Church of St John the Baptist, Watersmeet Road, Lynmouth (known locally as The Ark because of its design) holds its annual Flower Festival during the week that includes the 15th August. The Festival week begins on Sunday with a Songs of Praise service for which members of the local congregation chose their favourite hymn. We extend a warm welcome to all our visitors and look forward to seeing you. Please come and support this small church that survived the Flood 50 years ago.
We are based in Watersmeet Road, Lynmouth and available 24 hours a day 365 days a year and yes we have been called out on Christmas day in the past. The skills of the team range from a paramedic to farmers and plumbers to a mechanic and national trust wardens, and a student. All of which come together in wind and rain to the benefit of others, selflessly thinking of those that need their help.

The Lynton Feral Goat Preservation Society was formed in July 1997 by a group of local people dedicated to the welfare and preservation of a small herd of wild goats that graze the Valley of Rocks near Lynton.
Lynton and Lynmouth Bowls Club
Lynton and Lynmouth is a small and friendly bowls club with a mixed membership, re-established in 1981, and well known for our delicious teas. Our bowls green is in a picturesque spot in Lynton- nestling between hills near the entrance to the stunning Valley of Rocks.
